Ash-throated Flycatcher

Ash-throated Flycatcher
Ash-throated Flycatcher. Warner Springs, California. April 13, 2014. Greg Gillson.
When I think of Ash-throated Flycatchers I envision habitats like Horse Ridge Canyon east of Bend, Oregon. It is steep rimrock canyons, sage, and scattered juniper.

These flycatchers are found in arid scrub here in San Diego as well. They migrate northward through the county in April, though they also breed locally in the drier foothills, remaining into October.

As with other Myiarchus flycatchers they have rusty coloration in the wing and tail feathers.
