Vermilion Flycatcher at Sunset Avenue ball fields

Although tiny, the Vermilion Flycatcher is a blazing flame of hurt-your-eyes scarlet.

Vermilion Flycatchers are a rare winter visitor to the county. They have been regular the last few years at the baseball fields in the Tijuana River Valley.

Actually, there is one known nesting site in San Diego County. It's way up north in an abandoned golf course in Bonsal. eBird hotspot here.
