In February I obtained a photo of Western Grebes performing their courtship dance. Unfortunately, it was an overcast day and I was up too high, resulting in dark gray birds against harsh reflected sky.

Courtship dance, Western Grebes. Lake Hodges, California. February 10, 2019. |
In March it was overcast again, but I was able to get a bit lower and have the green of the opposite hillside as the reflected background. It is a bit hard to get right down to the waterline at this location, but I'd like to try again when it is sunny. This activity goes on nearly year-round here, at least February into October.
